Loose Change 9-11. A Film Everyone Should See.

Especially the Americans. I believe every American should put their views aside, and take a look at this film with an objective eye. Although to be quite honest, the evidence is pretty damning. From only watching a small portion of the film, you can tell that the official story behind the terrorist attacks are quite frankly, bullshit, and badly disguised at that.

The film written and directed by Dylan Avery, a 21 year old from Washington DC. Three years of research presented in a tidy and straight to the point manner, the film is basically a documentary containing what appears to be nothing but hard facts. I've done a small amount of reasearching, looking at the credibility of this guy's claims, and it has to be said, they seem pretty on the mark to me!

Whilst watching this film I had a compelling urge to shout at people. Anybody really. How can people commit atrocious crimes, and clearly escape punishment? How does the American public accept George W Bush? It's would seem that George and his administration are directly responsible for this tragedy. Even if somehow G.W Bush isn't directly responsible, he should still be shunned out of office for letting such a blatent cover up go without action. However, you will see from the film, that the only people who benifited from 9-11 was the Bush family, suprise suprise.

I'm not gonna go deep into discussing the film, and biase your views. However it's only an hour long, and I'm sure you will find your own form of outrage that power can be so calmly abused, and nobody does a thing.

Except of course people like Dylan Avery. Give this film your time, please. It really amazed and shocked me. If you're expecting Michael Moore, you'll be dissapointed. This film makes Michael Moore's look like a mockumentary, and seems to deal soley in the facts, rather than the vague, drama-esque style that Michael is more accustomed to. Sorry for the pun by the way; the words just worked out like that I'm afraid.

I wouldn't normally advocate this, as normally it would be illegal, but get yourself over to Mininova.org or Torrentspy.com and download this film.

Not only does that message appear right at the end of the film (and in the beginning of the extras), but as you can see from this post in a 911 forum that he has actually posted it online, and knows and endorses the fact that people are downloading his film.

Go buy it, or download it, or even watch it on Google Video. Whatever. But make sure you see Loose Change 9-11. And tip your hat to it's creator, while you're at it.

Although the American government are currently cutting back on college loans and food stamps, they will soon be issuing "TV Vouchers" to help people make the switch from Analog to Digital TV.

My Name Is Earl - Consise Review

Some of you are no doubtedly already watching this fine piece of comedy hilarity.

I am going to keep my writing as concise as I can, as you shouldn't be reading this, you should be watching the show, dognammit!

Jason Lee stars as Earl J Hickey, and produces the show.

Poor Earl. In every photograph, he always seems to blink at exactly the wrong moment. :)

From left to right, the main characters in the show: Catalina (Nadine Velazquez), Earl (Jason Lee), Randy (Ethan Suplee), Joy (Jaime Pressly), Darnell aka Crabman (Eddie Steeples).

Earl is a hapless criminal who has an epiphany after he wins a lottery scratchcard, is hit by a car immediately afterwards, and loses his ticket. While doped up on morphine in hospital he sees Carson Daley on TV talking about Karma and how his life is good because he (Carson) does good things for others.

Keep that morphine comin'.

So Earl decides to write a list containing all of the bad things he's ever done, and one by one he's going to set about fixing those wrongs.

Some of the things on Earl's list. They're not all on here, cos there's over 260 so far!

Randy follows his brother Earl about and although Randy's pretty dim, he helps Earl out of a number of scrapes along the way.

It's only a one camera production, but the show is very well shot.

Here are a few more screenshots that I've taken. It's taken a while to compile them, and so right now I can't be bothered to to comment on them. I might do it later.

Enjoy!

Oldboy

I watched the film Oldboy again the other night. I first saw it ages and ages ago when it was unheard of in this country. A screener of the DVD from Korea had gotten on to the net, and pleasingly it came with english subtitles, and a kickass DTS audio track. When it came out on DVD from Tartan Asia Extreme in the UK, I quickly snapped it up from Virgin. Actually I think I got it from HMV, but I might get more hits if I have words like virgin here. Hmmmm....

"HOT VIRGIN TEEN PUSSY!!!" Yeise. There's some more hits from fat balding middle class men, I can hear them flooding in as I type.

Anyway, back to Oldboy, It's an awesome film, one of those unusual ones that draw you in regardless, despite your home movie setup. Whether you watched this on a TV with tinny TV speakers or a 2m wide projection screen with DTS 6.1 ES surround sound on kef speakers, it's an amazing piece of work.

Just for the record, I opted for the latter set up.

Oldboy is about a guy called Oh Dae-Su (or is it Dae-Su Oh?). He talks too much. One day, after getting particularly drunk, he ends up in a prison-come-hotel room. Imagine the Hotel California, only with much less dancing and singing, and more insanity.

Hehe. Crazy. Woop woop!

After 15 years, he's finally let out. Understandably, he's a bit annoyed at being locked away for 15 years, with no explanations.

So, he goes out to find out what the hell happened, and ends up eating a live octopus.

One thing I like about this film is it's unusually long scenes. I don't think I've seen any other film that features a scene with someone fighting a crowd of enemies, and yet doesn't change camera angle, or cut at any point, but instead shoots a 4 or 5 minute (maybe longer!) fight scene in one long continuous shot. Man I'd like to be that dangerous with a hammer. I'd get more respect at work, I'll tell you that much.

When I first heard of Oldboy, I read a review of it on some random website. It had a brilliant picture of the famous corridor scene where Oh Dae-Su fights a gang of armed opponents in a narrow corridor. The picture was spliced together from various stills to show an almost panoramic type shot of the corridor fight. I trawled the internet for hours recently, looking for it, but I have been unsuccessful in my search.

So I decided to make one myself. Unlike the one I saw, which was prettier and better done than my attempt, but it did not show an accurate representation of the entire corridor. Mine does. Although it may not look as pretty as the one in my memory. I made this from various screen captures from the DVD. It shows some of the fighting and the entire length of the corridor. :)

Clicky on the piccy for a larger version. You can copy or save this image, but I'd like to be linked to if you use it for a webpage or other online document.

Here is some trivia regarding the film.

Min-sik Choi trained for six weeks and lost twenty pounds to get in shape for the role of Dae-su, and did most of his own stuntwork.

Four live octopi were eaten for the scene with Dae-su in the sushi bar, a scene which provoked some controversy abroad. Eating live octopus in Korea is commonplace although it is usually sliced first. Min-sik Choi, a Buddhist, prayed after eating each one.

The famous one-take/shot corridor scene was shot in three days, and took 17 attempts.
Despite being known for being fairly brutal, the bodycount is only 5. Many of the characters beaten with the hammer in the corridor scene are seen later.

So if you haven't seen it yet - go watch it! Or I'll beat you with a hammer.
